Universal Works was founded in 2009 with a mission to create clothing based on great design and fit. With a keen eye for simplicity and longevity David Keyte has created an iconic brand with fanatical customer base.
Inspired by the style he grew up around, David's design aesthetic is rooted firmly in the workwear tradition. This early influence has melded with 30 years working with big fashion names, like Paul Smith and Maharishi, to create Universal Works unique design-led workwear look.
As a company they are focused on championing skilled, small-scale production. This means working closely with their factories, both in the UK and overseas, to ensure a high level of ethical production. They only work with factories they trust, admire and are proud to be associated with - and that's something we can get on board with!
Here at Ruskin we are all about creating a unique edit of well-made and ethical garments which will see you through season after season. While Universal Works certainly keeps a weather-eye on the latest trends, there is a timeless thread of classic design shapes which runs through their collections making their garments ones which you will be able to wear for years to come without feeling out of step. This kind of design is something we feel passionately about, as investing in garments with longevity is the only way to shop sustainably.
We bring the best of independent design together with our unique edit.
